Health Ed New England

AED Programs (Automatic External Defibrillators)

AEDs are computerized devices that give an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat.  They are small, portable, and with proper training, easy to use.  The computerized analysis makes the AED easy to use for individuals without a medical background.  The device will recommend a shock for only those victims that will benefit from this treatment.

According to the American Heart Association, sudden cardiac arrest kills 240,000 Americans each year. Nearly ninety-five percent of those who suffer this condition outside a hospital die because AEDs are still not widely available in many public places. With greater access to public defibrillation programs, the American Heart Association estimates that some 50,000 lives could be saved each year.  Health Ed of New England is now a licensed distributor for several major AED manufacturers.  Our associations with various companies gives us access to industry discounts and special offers.  We can offer you discounted prices on our AEDs.

After your purchase, we continue to be a valuable resource for your AED program.  We help you set up your AED program, so that you are in adherence to legal guidelines and laws.  We can assist you with questions such as how many AEDs your facility needs, and where they should be placed.  We also help you set up a maintenance program so that the AED is always fully operational and ready to be used in event of emergency. Our AED training will help your staff know how to operate the AED, incorporating CPR techniques into use of the AED.  Participants get to practice on AED trainers, which are training devices that act just a real AED, except they can’t give electric shocks.

“The easy flowing manner of her presenting style helped any who were anxious…. The additional service that is provided, to help set up the AED… was extremely useful. We look forward to the time when Barbara will return to review and update our staff. All in all, a job well done.”
